Can't believe it's not peanut butter

Dare partners with Wow Butter to create peanut-free snacks
9/10/2014

With reports that eight in 10 schools are peanut-free zones, parents are under pressure to find alternatives.

Dare is addressing this concern with new peanut-free snacks. Their popular Bear Paws and Wagon Wheels are being re-invented with Wow Butter.

This is the first time Dare has partnered with Wow Butter – a Canadian company that specializes in making a creamy spread that has the same taste, texture and nutritional aspects of peanut butter.

Last year, all Wow Butter products were affixed with a layer of peelable  “Nut-free” stickers, with the intention parents could stick the labels to their kids’ sandwich bags to reassure teachers their kids’ lunches were following school rules. Dare is following suit: each Bear Paws and Wagon Wheels pouch features a peanut free logo.

As per all Bear Paws and Wagon Wheels snacks, the ones featuring Wow Butter are made in Dare’s nut-free and peanut-free facility.

“We understand how touch it can be to find a good a good variety of peanut-free school snacks kids can enjoy,” said Kelly McInenly, senior director of marketing for Dare in a release.

Dare has promoted the product with a sampling program with Cineplex, and both Dare and Wow Butter have actively promoted the products on social media, with a strong push in the back-to-school season.

The various products are suggested to retail between $2.99 and $2.49, depending on the packages. The new products include Dare bear paws morning snacks with Wow Butter and strawberries, Bear Paws minis chocolate chip and Wow Butter, and Wagon Wheels Wow Butter.
