After last season’s stinging first-round loss to the Montreal Canadiens, Ottawa Senators fans will be hoping for a fresh start when the NHL seasons kicks off next month.

But even if the Sens falter, fans of the club will be able to enjoy more fresh food, courtesy of one of Ottawa’s major grocery chains: Farm Boy.

On Wednesday, Farm Boy announced the opening of a kiosk inside the Canadian Tire Centre, the Senators' home arena.

Farm Boy’s 30-by-40 foot kiosk will serve a variety of prepared foods, such artisan wraps, salad, fresh soups and sushi, during games. The selection will includes items sold in the HMR department of Farm Boy stores, such as its Harvest Kale Salad and chicken caesar wrap.

HMR has become an important part of Farm Boy’s business in recent years. Company president Jeff York, said he’s “excited to bring Farm Boy’s fresh food experience” to Ottawa Senators fans who attend games.

The addition of Farm Boy at the Canadian Tire Centre was “in response to growing demand from our fans” for fresh, healthy and local food options,” added Geoff Publow, vice-president of strategic development for the Senators.

It opens for business Oct. 11, during the Senators home opener against the Canadiens.

Over the last three years the company has expanded outside of Ottawa, opening stores in several other Ontario cities, including Kingston, London and Whitby. The company’s 19th store is set to open in Kitchener this year.
