Golden Pencil Awards now accepting nominations for 2020

Do you know someone who should be recognized for their outstanding service or contribution to the grocery industry? Now’s your chance to nominate them for the industry’s most prestigious award.

The Golden Pencil Awards recognize individuals who have made significant and worthwhile contributions to improving the Canadian food industry as well as their communities.

Ideal candidates for the award will have been involved with the Canadian grocery industry a minimum of 10 years and achieved senior executive status.

Last year, Christian Bourbonnière (previously executive vice-president and Quebec division head at Metro, currently president at Adonis Group); Cheryl Smith (previously general manager at Lactalis Parmalat Canada, currently CEO of Dairy Farmers of Ontario) and Thomas A. Barlow (president and CEO, Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers–retired) took home the Golden Pencil hardware.

Other recent winners include Maple Leaf Foods president and chief executive officer at Maple Leaf Foods, Gus Longo of Longo Brothers, Eric La Flèche of Metro, Nestlé Canada CEO Shelley Martin and Darrell Jones, president of Save-On-Foods.
