Six butter products recalled in Quebec over Listeria concerns

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has updated its recall of butter products in Quebec over possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination, to include additional information that was identified during a food safety investigation.

The recall includes products sold up to and including Saturday and includes the following products:

St. Laurent Butter -- UPC 62260 00454 9
St. Laurent Light Butter -- UPC 0 62260 00456 3
Beurre du Lac  -- UPC 0 62260 00455 6
Perron Butter -- UPC  7 72622 72454 0
Nutrinor Butter -- UPC 065244 45827 7
Nutrinor Light Butter -- UPC 0 65244 15500 8

The initial recall was issued July 6 and updated less than a week later to include additional product information.

The federal agency says food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick. Symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.
