John Pigott, chief executive officer of Club Coffee and Morrison Lamothe, was honoured at Food and Consumer Products of Canada’s annual CEO Executive Conference in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont. this past weekend.

FCPC created the Award of Distinction seven years ago to recognize a person’s contributions to the organization and the consumer products manufacturing industry. Pigott has nearly 30 years industry experience and has held a rotating seat on FCPC's board of directors since 1995.

Pigott started at Morrison Lamothe as a student in 1971 and worked summers through 1979. He worked for Xerox Canada from 1980 to 1986 and returned to Morrison Lamothe to serve as vice-president. He was named president and CEO in 1989.

“With John at the helm, both Club Coffee and Morrison Lamothe have become leaders in innovating and adapting to changing markets, while remaining loyal to the Canadian communities they serve,” said Michael Graydon, chief executive officer at FCPC, in a media release announcing this year's recipient. “It is an honour for us to celebrate his hard work and contributions to the Canadian consumer packaged goods industry and we are thankful for his years of dedication to FCPC.”

Past Award of Distinction recipients include Tom Singer of Reinhart Foods, Marc Guay of Pepsico Foods Canada, Tim Penner of Procter & Gamble and Lem James from Janes Family Foods.
