Loblaw named official grocer for Pan Am Games

Canada's largest food retailer, Loblaw has been named the official grocer for the 2015 Toronto Pan Am/Parapan Games.

The grocer will provide fresh, tasty and nutritious food choices for athletes and volunteers at the games that take place July 10-26 and August 7-14, 2015.

"Supporting the nutritional health and performance of the almost 7,500 athletes attending the Games as well as the 20,000 volunteers is an extension of our consumer purpose to help Canadians Live Life Well," said Uwe Stueckmann, Loblaw's senior vice-president of marketing, at the Maple Leaf Gardens store in Toronto.

Joining Stueckmann at today's announcement (photo at right) were some of Canada's top athletes including David Eng, three-time Paralympian and winner of two gold medals and a silver in wheelchair basketball;Lanni Marchant, marathon runner and new Canadian record holder; two-time Pan Am silver medallist and world champion hurdler Perdita Felicien; and Mark Oldershaw, Olympic bronze medallist in canoe (sprint).

Loblaw is a perfect fit for the Toronto 2015 Games, said Ian Troop, CEO of the Toronto 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games organizing committee, citing the grocer's reputation for providing consumers with high-quality, affordably priced nutritious food choices and its deep community roots.
