Love Child Organics expands distribution with Loblaw

The company has 25 different products available at 700 Loblaws across Canada

Just days before subsidiary Love Child Organics launches a range of vegetarian, organic baby food in spouted pouches, the Toronto-based natural food brand announced an expansion of both category and distribution of its products through Loblaw.

"It's an exciting development for us," Aaron Skelton, vice-president of brands and development at GreenSpace Brands, told Canadian Grocer this week.

Skelton was a nutritional expert who spent a decade running Loblaw's national health foods product lines before joining GreenSpace in 2014. He said the increased distribution of Love Child products being sold through Loblaw roughly doubled to 25 SKUs in March.

Similarly, the number of Loblaw stores that sell the subsidiary's products has more than tripled over the past month to more than 700 locations nationwide.

Acquired by GreenSpace last fall, the three-year-old Love Child brand features more than 30 purees and snacks that are sold in natural food stores and mass retailers across Canada, including Walmart.

The brand's newest product—Veggie Protein Pouches, which come in four gluten-free flavours—are expected to land on Canadian retailers' shelves in early April.
