Maple Leaf Foods exec moves to plant-based food subsidiary

Adam Grogan has been named chief operating officer at Greenleaf Foods, a U.S. plant-based food company owned by Maple Leaf Foods.

Grogan--who currently serves as senior vice-president of marketing, innovation, research and development at Maple Leaf Foods--starts his new position on Sept. 9. Maple Leaf Foods is currently searching for his successor.

In his 20 years with the Maple Leaf Foods, Grogan has worked across multiple company functions including supply chain management, category management, brand marketing and customer business development. In 2013, Grogan was a winner of Canadian Grocer's Generation Next award, which recognizes future leaders in grocery under the age of 40.

In a press release announcing Grogan's hire, Greenleaf Foods president Dan Curtin said, "Adam brings tremendous commercial expertise, strong operational experience and leadership to this new role. And, his technological knowledge and capabilities will be invaluable to Greenleaf at this critical juncture in our rapidly growing business."

Maple Leaf Foods launched Greenleaf Foods nearly a year ago to help add to its plant-based food offerings.
