OPMA names a new president

Michelle Broom brings more than 20 years experience to the role

The Ontario Produce Marketing Association (OPMA) has named Michelle Broom as president, responsible for the "strategic and operational oversight of the association."

According to a press release issued late last week, Broom will also support the "facilitation of trade and enhance the marketing and promotion of fresh fruits and vegetables in Ontario."

Broom has more than 20 years experience in leadership, food industry nutrition and education, and has held senior management roles in the Australian grains industry. She most recently served as president of the Grains and Legumes Nutrition Council (GLNC).

In addition, Broom has sat on several committees including the Global Health, Nutrition and Food Security Committee and the National Committee for the United Nations International Year of Pulses. In Canada, she sits on the board of East York Meals on Wheels and is a member of the Dietitians of Canada Regulatory Affairs Advisory Group.
