Target Canada has chosen Mississauga, Ont.’s AeroCentre V complex owned by Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan for its head office.
Located at 5570 Explorer Drive in Mississauga, Ont., Target will occupy 180,000-sq.-ft. of space in a cutting-edge, environmentally friendly office complex that is built to LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) gold standard.
After some remodelling, the majority of Target’s Canadian headquarters team will begin occupying the space in early 2012.
“Target is excited to select a state-of-the-art, environmentally sustainable office building in Mississauga for our Canadian headquarters location,” said Tony Fisher, president, Target Canada. “From how we build our stores to the products on our shelves, environmental sustainability at Target is a priority, and I am pleased to be able to extend that commitment at AeroCentre V.”
AeroCentre V features an extensive use of natural light and windows that actually can open and close to save on heating and cooling costs, using 50 per cent less energy than a conventional building.
The building was also developed on “built-out” land that was once a parking lot, saving on infrastructure costs and ensuring that the building has excellent public transit access.
Earlier this year, AeroCentre V was also a winner of a Real Estate Excellence (REX) Award in the Green Award of the Year category.
