Food and grocery leaders make the Profit/Chatelaine W100

Representatives from the food and grocery industry made a strong showing on Profit/Chatelaine’s W100, a list of Canada’s top female entrepreneurs.

The W100 ranks female entrepreneurs based on a score that combines the sales, three-year revenue growth rate and profitability of their business. The W100 has been in place for the past 17 years.

Many of the food and grocery leaders recognized on this year's list have also earned distinction at Canadian Grocer's annual Star Women in Grocery awards. Teresa Spinelli, president of Edmonton-based Italian Centre Shops, was recognized last year.

Susan Niczwoski of Summer Fresh Salads was recognized in 2012, and Baby Gourmet's Jennifer Carlson (pictured) earned a spot on the Star Women list in 2013. Squoosh, a squeezable fruit and veggie snack for kids from Baby Gourmet, won the World Tour by SIAL Jury selection award for Canada and went on to represent the country along with two other Canadian products at the World Tour by SIAL awards.
