Walmart's CEO for the EMEA region, Shelley Broader, is moving from Walmart to women's clothing company Chico's.

Part of Broader's most recent role at Walmart has been overseeing the Canadian and U.K. markets. She began as Walmart Canada's chief merchandise officer in 2010 and was promoted to its president and CEO in 2011.

Her legacy at the company includes growing the Supercentre program and heading into new markets such as Quebec and the Maritimes.

Broader was a large proponent of building Walmart's grocery business, as well as its e-commerce initiatives. In an interview with Canadian Grocer last year, she spoke of the importance of Walmart being flexible to offer both online and bricks-and-mortar experiences since the company "came to realize that in all those occasions. Sometimes you are a bricks-and-mortar consumer, sometimes you are an online consumer, and sometimes you are a hybrid."

On Dec. 1, Broader will become CEO and president of Chico's and will also join its board.

Before her time at Walmart, she held senior roles at arts and crafts chain Michael's and Belgian-based food retailer Delhaize Group, the parent company of U.S. grocery chain Hannaford Bros.
