South Asian food channel launched

Asian Television Network, Canada's largest South Asian broadcaster, has launched the ATN-Food channel that focuses on the culinary culture of the Indian sub-continent.

"Canadian's of South Asian origin consume on an average of over four million meals per day or 120 million meals per month and needless to say, we are excited about launching North America's first International Food Network," said Shan Chandrasekar president, chairman and CEO, ATN.

The 24-hour service will be carried nationally across Canada, and just launched on Rogers Cable, according to a press release.

ATN has secured an exclusive programming alliance and licensing agreement with Tumeric Vision Pvt. LTD.

The content includes programming produced in Canada by ATN that portrays local culinary talent.

Celebrity chef Sanjeev Kapoor owns Food Food channel and also features Bollywood's Madhuri Dixit, who covers lifestyle topics. Other prominent South Asian entertainment and food industry personalities will also be featured on the channel.

The release said that food is an integral and important part of South Asian life style and culture and most celebrations in South Asia are centered around food.

The channel will offer a variety of recipe and cooking instruction shows as well as different themes and recipes that a food enthusiast can connect with.
