Ed Lee, a marketing veteran who had a hand in high-profile campaigns for such companies as SC Johnson, Shoppers Drug Mart, McDonald’s Canada and Canadian Tire, is joining Venture Communications as national director of strategy.

In his new role, Lee will "lead the development of business and marketing strategies to support Venture’s diverse roster of clients and will oversee the reinvention and business growth process through innovative strategic and digital solutions," according to a press release.

Lee most recently led social media strategy at Tribal Worldwide. It was here he played an important role in building award-winning campaigns including McDonald's “Our Food. Your Questions.” -- a digital platform where consumers were encouraged to ask the fast food chain tough questions. In exchange, McDonald’s promised to provide clear and concise answers.

"Throughout my career I’ve focused on connecting clients with the audiences they crave in interesting, distinctive ways, and I’m thrilled to bring that philosophy to Venture," said Lee. "There’s so much potential to be unlocked within the business model that’s being built – it’s going to be a fantastic journey to see that potential fulfilled."

Lee joins Venture Communications as the Calgary-based agency "continues to expand its services across food and beverage, health and personal care."

NOTE TO READERS: Canadian Grocer originally reported that Ed Lee had joined District Ventures as national director of strategy when, in fact, Lee has taken on that role at Venture Communications. Canadian Grocer regrets the error.
