Kam Chiu Lee lost his short battle with cancer on March 24
Fresh Direct Produce co-founder Kam Chiu Lee passed away March 24, following a short battle with cancer.
Lee started in the produce industry in the mid-1980s, according to a statement from Fresh Direct--the Vancouver-based distributor of fresh, ethnic, tropical, organic, and specialty produce he established with Davis Yung and Albert Lum in 2003.
Fresh Direct said Lee had a passion for produce and "an immense work ethic." He was often the first to arrive to work and the last to leave, and greeted everyone with a large smile on his face.
"Our family and community will greatly miss his wisdom, caring, humour, and heart," said Fresh Direct.
Lee is survived by his wife Irene and sons Alan and Raymond.
