Fresh imported peaches recalled due to Salmonella risk

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning the public to not to consume, and retailers, institutions and foodservice outlets not to sell or serve Prima Wawona fresh peaches.

Fresno, Calif.-based Prima Wawona has recalled fresh peaches, sold under various brand names, due to possible Salmonella contamination. CFIA says various importers in Canada are conducting a recall of the affected products, but advises that peaches with the same PLU numbers but that are Product of Canada are not affected.

The following products, sold between June 1 and August 22, are part of the recall:


  • Harvest Sweet 2 Eat Prima Sweet Value Wawona (yellow peaches, PLU 4037)

  • Harvest Sweet 2 Eat Prima Sweet Value Wawona (yellow peaches, PLU 4038)

  • Harvest Sweet 2 Eat Prima Sweet Value Wawona (yellow peaches, PLU 4044)

  • Harvest Sweet 2 Eat Prima Sweet Value Wawona (white peaches, PLU 4401)

  • Sweet 2 Eat Sweet O (organic yellow peaches, PLU 94037)

  • Sweet 2 Eat Sweet O (organic yellow peaches, PLU 94044)

  • Sweet 2 Eat Sweet O (organic white peaches, PLU 94041)

  • Wawona (peaches, 0 33383 32200 1)

  • Wegmans (peaches, 0 77890 49048 8)

  • Extrafresh (peaches, 0 33383 02071 6)


This advisory was triggered by a recall in the United States by Prima Wawona. The CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products.
