CFIG announces 2024 Life Member recipients

Industry leaders to be recognized at the Grocery & Specialty Food West exhibition and conference

The Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers (CFIG) is recognizing Larry ChmielewskiDan Bregg and Ian Dickson (Associated Grocers) and Scott Mitchell (Market Street Vulcan).

Chmielewski, Bregg and Dickson are recipients of the 2024 CFIG Life Member designation as Industry Builders, while Mitchell is the recipient of the 2024 Life Member Award in the Independent Grocer category.

Dickson worked with Associated Grocers for 38 years before retiring as vice president, strategic growth initiatives. 

Chmielewski held numerous titles at the Western Canada company, including sales manager and director of sales. He ended his 35-year stint at Associated Grocers as VP, sales.

Bregg has worked with Buy-Low Foods/Associated Grocers for more than 37 years, currently serving as president of Pattison Food Group Wholesale. He also serves on the board of CFIG as past chair.

Mitchell got his start in the business at First Street Foods in Vulcan, Alta., which opened under the Associated Grocers banner in 1988. In 2003 he moved to The Grocery People, which later merged with First Street Foods to form Market Street Vulcan.

Market Street Vulcan returned to the Associated Grocers family in 2016.

Chmielewski, Bregg, Dickson and Scott Mitchell will be officially recognized at a gala dinner held April 11 during the Grocery & Specialty Food West 2024 exhibition and conference in Vancouver.
