Forty volunteers from across the Toonies for Tummies sponsor and retailer community recently took part in a breakfast at Fraser Valley Middle School in New Westminster, B.C.

Members of the Save-On-Foods and Buy-Low and Nester's Market leadership and store teams were also in attendance at the event, held Jan. 24.

The retailers are among the 1,500 stores taking part in this year’s campaign, organized by The Grocery Foundation.

All the morning's breakfast items were enjoyed by students throughout the day and a few perishable items were shared with two neighbourhood schools.

Toonies for Tummies helps more than 3,000 programs in Western Canada, Ontario and Atlantic Canada.

This year’s campaign boasts 43 sponsors. Shoppers can support the campaign with a $2 donation during retailer campaign windows.
