Tom Shurrie steps into newly created role at CFIG

Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers (CFIG) appointed Tom Shurrie to the newly created role of senior vice-president and chief operating officer.

Shurrie's responsibilities include sponsor sales, event sales and event operations.

CFIG president and CEO Thomas Barlow said in a memo that Shurrie brought "broad and unique understanding of the grocery industry where he has worked on the retail, supply and sales agency areas of the business."

Shurrie was most recently executive vice-president customer development and general manager at Acosta Canada. He has also held senior level positions at ConAgra Foods, Parmalat Canada and Longo's. Shurrie has been an active member of CFIG's associate members council for the last four years.
