The latest line of Grab & Go soups and nut-based smoothies from Happy Planet cater to time-strapped consumers looking for convenience.

Launching in mid September in the deli/fresh prepared meal section of grocery stores, the single-serve soups come in microwavable containers in five globally inspired flavours, such as Thai Coconut and West African Squash & Cashew.

The Vancouver-based company won acclaim last year at the Grand Prix Awards for its line of local soups, including Chilliwack Broccoli and Chatham Carrot. That line, along with the new flavours, are also available in 500 or 650 ml pouches.

“Shifting demographics and changing lifestyles were key inspirations behind our new line of fresh soups,” says Brendan Kelly, VP marketing at Happy Planet “Households are getting smaller and lives are getting busier—more and more people are eating alone, at their desks or on the run.”

With recent trends showing that soup is now being consumed year-round and as a main course, Kelly says this latest product offering gives consumers a meal on the go that they can “savour and feel good about eating.”

The company is also addressing consumers’ taste for nut-based beverages with a new premium line of dairy- and soy-free, all natural smoothies made from almonds and cashews. “As nut-based products continue to be one of the fastest growing and hottest trends, we saw the opportunity to add some excitement and innovation to the premium smoothie category,” says Kelly.

Available in four varieties, the smoothies pair an almond and cashew base with on-trend flavours such as cold-brewed coffee, salted caramel, vanilla chai and chocolate.

The suggested retail for Happy Planet’s Grab & Go soups is $4.29 each, while the smoothies range from $3.99 for 325 ml to $6.99 for 900 ml.
