The Canadian Produce Marketing Association (CPMA) is holding its annual convention and trade show from April 2-4 in Vancouver.

Over 3,000 participants from all segments of the produce supply chain are expected at the Vancouver Convention Centre, along with new products from across the globe.

As of March 6, CPMA reports that there are 438 exhibit spaces, representing an increase of 10 % (an additional 41 booths) since the last time it held the event  in Vancouver (2010). "The total number of exhibiting companies is 248," said Paul Renaud, CPMA's manager of communications.

Business sessions will look at new trends in eating fresh and healthy eating, and examine how retailers can help consumers think about adding fresh foods to their diets.

On Friday, April 4, a group of chefs will demonstrate how to make fruit and vegetables the central focus of meals.

Participants will have an opportunity to better understand how to identify produce marketing opportunities in perceived threats, and how to maintain stability in pricing at a time when global food prices and the Canadian dollar are in constant flux.

Also on Friday, there's an Awards Breakfast where the Mary FitzGerald Award will be handed out to someone who has the same passion and dedication for the produce industry as Mary demonstrated throughout her career.

Other awards given out then also include best booth, best new product, The Packer's Produce Person of the Year and the 2014 CPMA Lifetime Achievement Award.
