Farm Boy's Ontario expansion comes to Kitchener
Farm Boy will open its 19th location later this fall.
Last Wednesday, the Ottawa-based fresh food retailer announced a 22,000-square-foot store will open in Kitchener.
"We're very excited to open Farm Boy's doors to the Kitchener community," says Jeff York, CEO of Farm Boy. "With us, it's all about the food - offering the freshest, high quality food along with the best customer experience. We look forward to welcoming the community into our store and want to thank city officials and our neighbours at Fairwaay Plaza for their support."
Farm Boy was founded as a lone produce stand in Cornwall, Ont. in 1981. It now has 16 stores, most of which are in and around Ottawa.
The retailer is going through a significant growth spurt. Over the last year or so, the company has opened three locations in London, Ont. The most recent London store opening took place in Beaverbrook last month.
And in March, Farm Boy announced it would open its first store in the Greater Toronto Area, in Whitby.

As with Farm Boy’s other stores, the Kitchener location will emphasize fresh food, organic and HMR. A 50-foot self-serve food bar that serves fresh greens, grains and grilled proteins will be part of the store..
The chain also prides itself in its selection of fresh produce, natural and organic foods and unique specialty items, including artisanal farmstead cheese, butcher-quality fresh meats, sustainable fresh seafood and its line of store brand products.
The Kitchener location is expected to open in late fall.
