What's new with Instabuggy?

Online grocery shopping and delivery company Instabuggy has added Sobeys Urban Fresh to its roster of grocers.

Beginning this past Monday, Instabuggy now delivers from all nine Sobeys Urban Fresh locations in Toronto.

Shoppers can order everything from food to diapers to pet food from Sobeys Urban Fresh through the Instabuggy website or app.

There are over 180 options for ready-to-eat foods. Delivery coverage spans from the downtown core to North Toronto. The company plans to expand to Ottawa this fall.

“We’re pleased that Instabuggy has added Sobeys Urban Fresh to their grocery retailer lineup," says Vicki Leung, manager of communications for Sobeys. "This allows Instabuggy’s customers to get the grocery items and prepared foods they enjoy from Sobeys Urban Fresh delivered right to them."

She clarified that Instabuggy is not related to Sobeys digital strategy.

Launched in downtown Toronto a little over a year ago, InstaBuggy is a geographic-based service that enables customers to shop for items online and place orders up to three days in advance. It delivers groceries, even from multiple stores.

Since its launch, InstaBuggy has rapidly expanded its coverage from teh downtown core to the entire Greater Toronto Area.

Retail partners include FreshCo, Sunlong Natural Market, Galati Market Fresh, Summerhill Market, Coppa’s Fresh Market, and now, Sobeys Urban Fresh.

Instabuggy estimates that the average Instabuggy shopper's cart is made up of 58% produce, 35% prepared meals and 7% other grocery items

Sobeys Urban Fresh:  Bananas, avocados and lemons

Summerhill Market: Private label chicken pot pie, greek salad, lobster mac and cheese

FreshCo:  Bananas, kale salad and ground beef

Coppa's:  Angus steak, barbecue chicken and avocados

Galati's:  Cold cuts, chicken cutlets and ice cream
