Walmart Canada scraps unlimited free shipping

Walmart Canada is dropping its unlimited free shipping on online orders. As of Thursday, the retailer will begin charging $4.97 for standard home shipping orders less than $50. Once customers pass the $50 threshold, says Walmart.ca, they qualify for free standard home shipping on everything except especially large or  oversized items. "One of our pillars has been free standard shipping, but we had to make these changes to ensure we can continue to give you great customer service and everyday low prices on items your family needs or wants," reads the site. Walmart introduced free shipping on online purchases in 2013 in the face of mounting competition. Last September it launched its Grab & Go service which allowed customers to order an item online and pick it up from a locker in the nearest Walmart. Read the full story here.
