Shoppers Drug Mart president Jeff Leger is exiting the pharmacy retailer after 17 years.

Leger shared to LinkedIn Thursday (April 24) that he was leaving Shoppers to join a different company as CEO in early July.

His new role will be announced in the next couple of weeks.

“It's been a fantastic journey of constant learning and growth. Shoppers Drug Mart and Loblaws are incredible companies with incredible people. I will miss them dearly,” he said. “I'm proud of how our Shoppers Drug Mart team embraced and supported the Loblaws purpose of helping Canadians Live Life Well. I'm thankful for the dedication and support of our fantastic associate owners, pharmacists, front store managers, beauty managers and their teams. We have been able to lead the world in terms of innovation in retail, beauty and pharmacist delivered care. All achieved because of you and our incredible central office team. I'm proud of our accomplishments and will continue to cheer you on from the sidelines.”
