CFIG names 2020 Life Member recipients

Dave Powell and Stephen Kouri will receive the prestigious award during new virtual celebration

Stephen Kouri and Dave Powell will receive their awards Nov. 25.

The Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers (CFIG) has announced the recipients of this year’s Life Member Designations.

Dave Powell of Powell Group of Companies Life Member Award has been recognized in the Independent Grocer category, while Smucker Foods of Canada's Stephen Kouri is a recipient in the Industry Builder category. (Earlier this month Kouri announced he would be retiring from the industry at the end of November.)

The Life Member Designation recognizes the lifetime achievements of individuals who have made a significant contribution to independent grocers, their communities and the food industry.

The awards will be handed out during the Celebration of Grocers event on Nov. 25, part of CFIG's GIC LIVE @ HOME virtual conference and trade show, which takes place Nov. 24 to Nov. 26.
