Retail Council of Canada taps Kim Furlong as president and CEO
The Retail Council of Canada has appointed its next president and CEO.
Kim Furlong is tapped to lead the organization effective Sept. 2.
The appointment marks a return for Furlong, who served as VP of federal government affairs for RCC over 16 years ago.
She succeeds longtime leader Diane Brisebois, who announced her retirement in January.
Brisebois will continue to serve as president and CEO until Furlong officially joins the retail trade association.
“Kim brings a deep expertise in public policy, stakeholder engagement, and crisis communications and we are delighted to welcome her to the organization,” said Anne Martin-Vachon, chair of the board of directors, RCC, in a press release. “Her leadership will drive impactful results and strengthen our mission in the years ahead.”
Furlong joins RCC from the Canadian Venture Capital & Private Equity Association (CVCA), where she currently serves as chief executive.
She brings two decades of experience at the intersection of government, industry and advocacy.
“We are also pleased that Diane continues to serve as President & CEO until Kim joins RCC in September,” added Martin-Vachon. “Diane’s contributions to the association and the industry have been extraordinary and her commitment to the team, the Board and the members have enabled us to ensure that RCC is widely recognized as the ‘Voice of Retail’.”
