Walmart Canada celebrated the grand opening of its new store in Mississauga Thursday morning (May 8).
The Port Credit location spans 94,000 square feet with two levels of covered parking.
Billed as a “compact Supercentre,” the store boasts a hot kitchen with ready-to-eat meals, fresh produce, health and beauty, fashion, general merchandise departments and more.
Speaking to attendees of the grand opening, Walmart Canada president and CEO Venessa Yates said: “Choosing Port Credit was something that came easy to us. It’s one of the most historic and vibrant communities in the area and it’s the perfect location for this compact store. You’ll notice when you walk around that it’s a little smaller than our typical floor footprint, but you still get everything a Supercentre has to offer.”
Nishali Kumar, store manager, said the store was “more than just a place to shop.”
“It represents our commitment to serving the Port Credit community with quality products, unbeatable price and exceptional customer service. Our store is designed to offer a variety of products from fresh produce to the latest electronics to meet the diverse needs of our customers,” Kumar said. “We believe that Walmart is not just a retailer, but a vital part of our community.”
The store is situated at 515 Lakeshore Road East.
As part of the opening, donations were made to The Compass Food Bank & Outreach Centre and Childhood Cancer Canada.
