A new Super C has opened in Montreal.

The Metro Inc.-owned Quebec discount grocery chain set up shop at 1295 Avenue De Lorimier last week.

Spanning 25,000 square feet, the store is the 114th Super C in Quebec, the 16th in Montreal and the banner’s fourth new location inaugurated since the beginning of Metro’s fiscal year.

Two more Super C stores are planned by year-end as the discount chain continues its expansion.

Representing an investment of $8.3 million, the grocery store offers fresh fruits and vegetables, meats prepared on-site by butchers, major national and private-label brands, a range of organic and natural products, a selection of craft and microbrewery beers, Première Moisson products and a growing assortment of local items.

Customers can shop in-store or online through the click and collect option and home delivery. The store also features self-serve checkouts.

The opening of the Super C De Lorimier will create 80 jobs.

To celebrate the opening, the grocer presented a $5,000 cheque to Moisson Montréal.

“The opening of Super C De Lorimier reflects our desire to be where the needs are greatest, especially in a context where consumers are looking for value more than ever,” said Loïc Cloutier, senior vice-president, Super C, in a press release. “We continue to focus on three guarantees—Always fresh, Always in stock and Always great prices.”
